My tires are getting close to need replacement. It has Pirelli Diablo's currently. I'm guessing the Diablos are what came on the bike because the bike just turned 5300 miles, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I get a sales flyer from Cyclegear today and they have a Bridgestone BT-016 pair for $169.99. I think these tires are also called Battlax?? Anyone have any experience with these tires? Seems like a really good price.

That is a pretty decent price, I got the same ad. The Battlax line from Bridgestone is a good reputable line and has been for many yrs. Just take into consideration your type of riding and what you need.......after the BT are numbers all throughout the Battlax line which mean they are for different types of riding. Enjoy

I run them and that is a great price. Have been running them for the last couple of years. I like them and for that price I like them even more

LeVan: huge fan of shinkos here. i'm considered to be one of the fastest "street-riders" in america. the demands that i place on tires far exceeds dunlop capabilities. see copy and paste below that i offered up a few months ago from yet another "buying tires-have questions" thread. this should help you render a proper, educated decision.

fig19.jpg might i also add as a shinko admirer and believer, that in my stable are 2 almost new suzuki v-stroms. one a 650 adventurer....the other a 1000 adventurer. i just freshened up the 650 and added a set of shinko dual-sport 705 radials. they look lovely and give the appearance that i'm a serious dual-sport type of guy who shall not be trifled with. last sunday was beautiful here in amishland so i had a chance to let the mighty v-strom stretch her legs sporting the new shinkos. as i approached my first serious turn of the day i immediately observed 2 things: the "curve ahead" caution sign had 35MPH posted on it.....a darting glance at my speedo indicated 37MPH. i entered said turn 2MPH over the recommended maximum speed. the shinkos handled the task brilliantly and i rode out the other side unscathed and fully confident. they are in fact THAT good!

I hear ya. I like people who "push the limits".:eagerness: I've got a 98 DR350SE also. I put a set of Golden Boys on it and they've been great. I just sold my SV650. I may try a Vstrom some day. Anything Suzuki that I've owned has been great. Thanks John

LeVan: my pleasure. hoping you know my "fastest rider" and shinko comments are all a sham. i put a set of Golden Boys on my yamaha zuma 125 a few years ago. impressive....and cheap buy-in. just my style.

John I took your shinko advice and put one on the back of a harley deuce that got traded in at work(with cords showing on its factory Dunlop). And oh man what a difference! I swear it added at least 10hp. And I think I can almost hang in the corners with you now!

But seriously it does grip better in a straight line than the stock harley Dunlop! And $80 cheaper!

Well I did put a set of Shinko 005 Advance Z rated tires on a 2007 Tiger1050, from Cycle Gear about a couple of months ago and they are actually pretty good. I have been running Michelin RP4, GT version which I still have on my Uly, will not use the GT version again but would like to try the standard. I used to have the RP4 GT version on the Tiger also, and the Shinko Advance tires are way better on that bike. Have almost a couple thousand miles on them and have ridden them in the rain a couple of times. For 2 stock sized tires mount & Balance, 120/70 & 180/55 it was $225 out the door. Glad I did it so far, and if they last a few thousand miles more will probably buy another set, or try the Battle Ax's if they are still on sale?

Yeah, my "push the limits" comment was tongue in cheek also. I've never had any Shinko road tires but the Golden Boys have been really good. Not sure about their road stuff. I've also got an 07 Yamaha C3 that I've had for about six years. It's fuel injected and runs great.

If they live up to what they say??

Great....here goes Valentino Rossi again tearing up the Amish roads on his scooter. That's probably why you NEVER come to my track days. Afraid your gonna show me up!!!!!

I have the Pro Pilot 4's on my S3T and while they are OK, I do not feel they are that great. They seem a little loose in the corners and I had a few butt pucker moments while pushing them through the mountains. They do have a better tread life than most tires I have used (I usually go through 3 sets a year). My last tires were the Conti-RoadAttacks and so far they were the best gripping tires I have had, but were expensive and short lived (and I even got a deal on them from an employee). The issues I had on the ProPilots were probably due to me being used to the Conti's as I was pushing them hard. FWIW, I have had 3 sets of the Pro Pilot3's and 1 of the Pro Pilot 4's.
