Thinking of buying a xb12Ss 2009 in translucent blue

Hey all.. I was looking for a long time at a BMW f 800 S... I had my heart set on them.. a couple of things I liked about them... it was more of an upright seating position than pure aggressive.. but not completely laid back like a harley.. I kind of wanted something in between for urban riding

I wanted decent mileage which the bmw definitely gets...

Only problem is the bmw f 800 S is not even available in north america anymore and each dealer I have contacted was kind of rude about revealing information of when if ever it would be even available again....

so basically now I am looking at the buell xb12Ss. A couple of things I like about it.. the looks... I like the torque (I don't plan on going over 100MPH often anyway ).. I heard the belt drive is easier for maintenane than chain.... Also I find the sound to be pretty cool although I am not sure I want something so attention grabbing...

The thing is I am 6 foot 1 and 170 pounds... not a giant but not small by any means.. And I was wondering if it would be just simply too small for me. THe bmw f 800 s is less "squished" and is generally roomier.. but probably doesn't drive as well.

so I was wondering what are the best mods to do after I got one?

I was thinking of maybe changing the seat to a select.... removing the belt guards... removing the "cheese grater" license plate thing.. and maybe putting a good muffler on it.

I would like a muffler that does not detract from top or bottom end if that is possible... but instead adds something however small to either.

what other mods would you guys pick?

Well as far as the size thing goes I think you will be fine. I am 6' and weigh 185 lbs and have no problem with room.

As far as mods go that is up to you, but I would also add to your list things like bar end mirrors, head light mode "so both lights run @ same time", led turn signals, you know the basic stuff.

If you really get the modding bug you could put a S tail on your Ss like I did. http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9226

Just a warning though, once you start modding you wont be able to stop :D:D:D[confused]

Here are some pictures of me on my XB12S1/2.

Ho, and welcome to the family

First thing, a breather reroute. Crossroads -7 degree bars look and feel awesome. Remove the belt gaurds and reflectors, chop the cheese grater and put on some bar end mirrors. Axle sliders are a safe bet. Drummer exhaust, open airbox, K&N filter, and a ECM remap will give 15-20% hp gain.

I would buy some gear before anything if you don't already have any that is.

Then check out asb and see what you might like
