Yesterday i checked the oil. i warmed the bike up and lifted the rear on a rear stand to keep it upright.. i forgot to lift the front.. so when i checked the oil it was low obviously due to the bike not sitting level. i didnt add much. i rode to a buddy house roughly 15 miles away. and i rode it like i stole it... i just ripped the back roads a new one... half way through i notice that i could really hear the valves slamming.. so when i got to his house i let it sit while i waited for him to get ready.. i was thinking that i may have overfilled it.. sure enough.. the oil level was 1/4 of an inch above the overfill line. we drained it down to full range and went for a ride to the dealership to ask the BUELL guy about it to see if i could have damaged anything.. they didnt think that overfilling it would have hurt anything for such a short ride.. i drained roughly 1/4 of a quart.. I rode roughly another 100 miles that day and the tick slowly got quieter. but it is loud and it wasnt there before.. what do you guys think... i need to pull the motor this winter anyway to do the valves but the weather here is dwindling down and the riding season will be over before i know.. im thinking that i should just not chance it and pull it now and check into it... Also does anyone have a pdf file of the manual.. thanks again guys

overfilling shouldn't hurt anything. Doesn't sound like you overfilled much anyway.

I don't know if the 1125's are the same as the XB's but always check on the sidestand, not upright on the xb's.

PM me your email. it will be a couple of days as i have to go some place with faster internet but i can help with the manual

Not to step on toes but I have a pdf service manual I can email if you want it.

The was n`t alot of oil for a long time,so I also don`t believe you hurt anything, and you shouldn`t have to pull the motor.what kind of oil,and what weight did you use?It seems hot days and thinner oils will make more noise. Now if you over filled it with 2 quarts over that would be different.

How much did you put in it? Over filling wouldnt make it tick. You might want to check the screen to see if its plugged. They had an issue with the timing chain guides deteriorating and plugging the screen.

Well on my way to work it blew a hole in the block.. right under the water pump... thank god for 4 year extended warranty

That is not related to overfilling the oil, you had other issues. All that will happen with overfilling the oil is it will be forced out the pcv or it will push past the piston rings and valve seals and burn and smoke until it's not over filled anymore.

Yea I don't think the overflow issues caused this. What is that area where the break occured.. what is there on the inside of the motor..

Ouch. That's awful. Just reading through this got me all scared because when I checked my xb it was slightly over the line for overfilled. Hopefully its fully replaced for you.

no idea titan, I don't have an 1125 so not that familiar with that engine. Post a further away pic.
