Sold my 2003 XB9SL a few years ago because I wanted a cruiser. Turns out I missed my buell too much. So as of last night I am the proud owner of a 2008 XB12SCG and I think I will have to keep it forever. I will post a pic as soon as I finish removing the previous owners sticker collection from it.

Here is the old one

The one I got rid of it for

And after a ton of elbow grease, the new one

it is a 2008 XB12SCG signature addition, sorry about the pic quality its already dark.

I started out with the same exact 03 yellow xb9sl, although it's currently been upped to normal height. I'm thinking about trading it in for an xb12. How do you like the new bike compared to the old one? I've heard plenty of people say there's not that much different, and other people say the 12 is a lot stronger. You think it's worth the hassle of selling a bike and tossing in some extra cash for the 12??

it does have a noticeable amount more power, but I think the 9 has better gearing (more hooligan). If I was into stunts and such it seemed easier on the 9. For me I like that the 12 takes less effort and as such seems smoother. The transmission in the new one compared to the old is sooooo much better and smoother. I am happy with the change but unless you can go newer with less miles I wouldn't say it was a big enough difference to change.

DMP---- Welcome back ! I did the same thing a couple years back, got rid of a Buell for a BMW then came back to Buell . I just bought a bike this week that looks just like your old yellow one!

once you get a buell nothing else will ever be enough! My cruiser was 102ci and 120ftlbs at rear wheel and no comparison.

Congrats and welcome back. I've got a 08 xb12scg as well so its good to see another one! How long before the mods start coming?

but I think the 9 has better gearing (more hooligan). If I was into stunts and such it seemed easier on the 9.

It's a little easier to do wheelies now that I've got the normal suspension, but I remember it being a hassle with the SL suspension. As far as stunts, I would hope wheelies would be a little easier just from twisting the throttle instead of having to goose it(or using the clutch, which I don't do). Your 12 would be hard to compare too though because it also has the low suspension.

I cant compare normal suspension, both of mine have been low. I've only put +- 50 miles on the new one but it just doesn't feel as light on the front wheel as my 9. I used to get the front wheel like an inch off the ground at just full throttle.

as far as mods I took all the stickers/ reflectors off and drilled the exhaust for more noise. I will do a fender eliminator and an exhaust but prob not till winter cause I want to ride it.
