So, long story short. I bought another Ulysses. It has a crash cage on it. I'm not too keen on the fact that its bolted to the front cylinder head and rendersthe front insulator pretty much pointless. Kinda wanted everyone's thoughts on it.
I actually bought that 04 lightning exactly one year ago. I fixed it all up, rode it a bit and then sold it. Got way too good of an offer.
Hopefully I did well on this one. Just got done cleaning it up good and starting it for the first time. Boy its been a long time since I've heard a buell with stock exhaust. These engines are noisy when u can actually hear them. I'm sure I'll be nervous about how it sounds til I can get it out and ride it. (Paranoid.) Its only got 10400 miles on it so I guess I shouldn't worry so much.
Update on my new to me Ulysses... holy cow this bike is a clean time capsule of an 06 buell. This is by far the most unmolested used buell I've ever bought. Did my list of maintenance along with a few upgrades, including a k&n, modified exhaust, a race map, lowered suspension, and some bar risers. Super excited to get this bike out once the snow melts! Got er looking good with the stock windscreen and no more crash cage
And if by check the bearings you mean I jacked the bike up spun the wheels and made sure they didn't wiggle back and forth, then yes I checked the bearings.
As far as tires go it has a tkc80 on the front and some kind of gnarly Metzeler on the back. Both appear to be fairly new
