hey guys,

I'm interested in buying a buell and am looking at 3 possible bikes:
a 2007 xb9sx
a 2008 xb9sx
a 2008 xb12s.

All are new and at the Harley dealership right now. First, what are the differences between the 07 and 08 city crosses? Was there any changes/improvements at all from 2007 to 2008? And second, besides the engine, what are the differences between the 08's? Why would one step up to the 12s?

ps. I know its quite a bit different than what I'm looking at now, but I've ridden a Buell Blast before, so I'm somewhat familiar with the bikes.

go for the 2008...there where several engine updates which can not be ignored.

between a 9 & 12 is personal prefference.
all depending on the use, how you ride, etc.

go for a testdrive between both, but if you have the choice between a '07 & '08, take the '08.
who knows, you may be getting the last of its kind :p

Larger crank pin and better oil pump are the two big ones.

Personally I don't think either are that big of a deal. I've never encountered a failure of either in my '03 XB9 or my '07 XB12. They did raise the max RPM a few hundred for '08 because of these changes but the motor still makes the same power and torque so it's not a big deal.

2008 updates over 2007

The fuel injection went to a one piece unit and no longer requires TPS Resetting/ECM Re-Flashing.

No more idle speed cable.

New progressive throttle cam to decrease twist sensitivity and overall angle of rotation.

New intake flanges and ports.

New head gaskets.

New pistons

New oil pump

New cam designs

Larger 8 row Oil cooler

New stator

Uly fork tubes went from 43mm to 47mm

Uly forks are offset 5/8 in forward with the new triple clamps to increase stop to stop steering angle from 54 degrees to 74 degrees

youre the second person to tell me this, but can you tell me what exactly was updated?
all is mentioned in BPG's post.
it's especially the oilpump & cooler that make your eninge live longer & run smoother.
do a search on the oilpump drive-gear and you'll get what i mean...no biggy, but you have to keep an eye out for the possibility ;)

the fuel injection is better and saves you the trouble of going to the dealer everytime you change something to the setup for a reset.
