Ok I have seen a lot of ecm threads but I'm confused. This is what is on my bike now. Good or bad? And what does it really do for me?

Its a race ecm. Its bad! I have a good one I will trade you tho! LOL! JK! Its awesome. What kind of exaust and air filter do you have? My guess is some good ones If they did a race ecm

Your pics of the bike show the Buell race exhaust so most likely your bike has the factory race kit on it .[up]

Not sure jobe, I know that sounds kinda dumb but not sure. Looks like a dual tip stock exhaust and a blue air filter. I can post pix tomorrow and maybe you or someone can tell me. I do know that the cable on the exhaust servo is gone...

The purpose of the race exhaust and air filter is to increase the airflow since the stock filter and exhaust restrict a bit of flow for the sake of noise regulations. Once you have the air flow increased, you need to also increase the gas that's shot into the engine with the air. It's the ECMs job to control how much has is mixed in with the air.

Lol, well thanks guys. Yea jobe, the Guy I bought it from said it had the race package but some times that's not always the truth. I think I got a deal on it. $3100 and 7k miles. The bike not trashed at all.

Since I do have the race package can I eliminate the servo?

the race ECU should inactivate it for you. you can discard it, but it might throw a check engine light if teh ECU still lets it work. there is a resistor that will plug in and prevent the CEL.

eitehr way there shouldn't be a muffler valve on teh race can, so it's not actually doing anything

do you wanna customize the outer air box (cover) or the inner air box (the one that holds the air filter)?

alotta guys 'swiss cheese' the inner with a dremel or a hole saw. or, you can totally hack it up, and bolt it down like seen here

as far as the outer, i've seen the 'buell' stickers traced and dremeld out, scoops put on, cut out to fit hyper-chargers, internally painted, you name it; its been done


and yeah, you made out like a bandit with the race ECU and EXHAUST. paint/powdercoat that thing to keep it from rusting away, but by all means; enjoy the bike

Those things suck but I'd be more than happy to take that and that crappy race can off your hands. I just do what I can to help out

Yep, guess some of those Ecms are still around, should get you about 12 to 14 more hp. With the exhaust about 4 to 5 more . Now play nice. I wouldn't trade that ecm ,hard to find those .
