Ive searched...... still lost! DAMN ECMSPY!!

Hey guys,

After months of giving up, I finally got my Firebolt running!

And i decided to get the ecmSPY and cable!

Here's the thing:
I have the cable
I have the disc.
Ive read the forums.

I STILL have no idea what to do!

03 XB9r. Airbox mod, muffler mod......

Completely lost here!
This stuff doesnt make since!

what are you looking to do? diagnostics? load maps? clear codes? what?
all you have to do to get rolling with it and gain some familiarity is run the CD on your laptop or PC or whatever you're using, it should self load. then look at it, understand the basics, plug the patch cable you bought from the USB port of your computer into the bikes diagnostic port, turn on bike, place red "run" switch to on, do NOT start bike, and the ecmspy program should commence communications with your bike.

Please don't take this as me being a dick, but I'd make darn sure you understand exactly what you are doing before you go playing around with the ECU on your bike. Futzing with it arbitrarily can do very serious, irreparable damage to your engine in a big hurry.

Head over to The Tuniversity (link on the side of the page -------> ) and solicit professional help. A couple hundred bucks spent doing it right is far better than a couple thousand spent on a new engine.

As lunatic asked, what are you trying to do?

No offense taken.

I have a k&n with a modded air box, and a modded muffler.

The bike is running a bit crappy, so I wanted to put a race map on it to hopefully clear up the issue.

I never planned on changing ratios or anything myself, just simply re-mapping it with one of the pre set race maps.
As long as I don't go screwing with anything it shouldn't be hard right?

Am I missing something here?
