Well first of all I'm having trouble posting links....you may have to copy/paste in your browser to view...but anyway...

I just got back from my ride in Tenessee, my brother lives in Dickson, about an hour west of Nashville I think, and we rode about 1,000 miles or so over three days (my butt HURTS lol!). We really didn't stop much and didn't take many pics, but here's a couple of us at deals gap....we rode around dickson a little, then rode to deals gap, then rode some surrounding roads, my favorite was the cherohola skyway I believe it was called. Wish I had my buell for these twisty roads but I saved a ton of money by flying up and riding his sportster, and I had alot of fun! Always good to visit family. This just makes me realize so much more that Florida riding sucks. Why'd I buy a buell to ride a flat grid in stop and go traffic in 100 deg heat??? lol

My 6'4" self on my brother's tiny Harley Sportster lol! This is on the dragon

I had alot of fun, but I gotta say, deals gap has a lot of hype, and in my opinion wasn't that great. It's a tourist attraction, almost unridable due to the amount of people, and also almost too sharp of turns to ride at a reasonable speed. I like the surrounding roads way more than deals gap, but I guess I can say I rode it now...

Nice. I went to school in Knoxville. I'm down in the area and stay in Gatlinburg every Oct/Nov for a Vols football game. I'm planning to hit up Deals Gap next year once I get more experience on the bike. Beautiful area with great roads.

Cool, I'd really recommend not spending too much time at deals gap, but more time riding the surrounding roads, they are way more fun in my opinion. I am glad I rode it though it was fun. About half way through deals gap I really slowed down and just sort of cruised through the bends because I almost got hit twice by oncoming traffic(Uhaul half way in my lane around a bend, and a sportbike going too hot in a corner and crossed the center line). That's why I say it's too curvy and crowded to ride safely. The surrounding roads are awesome though, my favorite was the cherohola skyway, and the blue ridge parkway isn't too far either.

I mentioned to my brother how ridiculous I look on his sportie since I'm so tall,l and unfortunately he told me I look the same on my buell :(

Ride the Buell at the gap and do it on a weekday (FAR less people) and I bet you come away with a different perspective of it. It is absolutely zen-like on the right bike (a Sportster ain't it).
I can't even begin to comprehend why so many cruiser riders flock to the gap. I would be miserable on a bike that had to slow down to a crawl to make it through those switchbacks. My Buell, on the other hand, was REALLY in it's element down there.

I agree though, the surrounding areas are MUCH underrated. The Cherohala is incredible! Beautiful area down there.[cool]
