So I was about to purchase the upgraded kickstand from ASB before my bike is laying on it's side like many.of you have experienced. My question is simply if I purchase a used 07+ kickstand from a Bolt will it work on my 06 Bolt. Saves money and then I will not have to mod my original either.

Thanks in advance
Kevin

i was just saying a pin is cheaper than buying a whole new sidestand.

from the pictures ive seen of used parts, the 07 sidestands appear to have the newer pin design. if you see the chamfer on the pin its the updated design, if you see the hex head its the old design.

I did the pin upgrade when I put scg suspension from a 04 on my 09 R, it is pointless to get a whole new kickstand when you can drill out the backside hole on your kickstand and shave the back a little and your done.

I planned on doing this before you posted it, when you posted I said now I'm def doing this instead of buying a newer kickstand.

Bought the pin and intalled it all but the kickstand dont go all the way up and scrapes on left turns? What the heck?????? LOL anyone run into this? 06 Bolt

really? the only thing i can think is the hole you drilled is really crooked but it cant be too bad or it wouldnt fit together. will it go up if you force it? post some pictures.

take a picture, put it on your computer. go to my pics tab above and upload file where it says browse. after that come back to this thread and click the add your photo box and it will appear.

im thinking you may have put that bent piece of metal that the spring attaches to on wrong. not sure what else could go wrong.

I tried uploading i have to find a way to get it into a different format????? I need my kickstand fixed grrr

that bent linkage piece is on backwards. its an easy mistake, see the difference in the pictures below.

that bend is so the spring can hold the stand up and down. the line between the two spring anchor points need to be able to cross the pivot point.

hope this helps, this post should also help others who may attempt in the future.
