Hello,

Just curious if anyone has put a large, new style oil cooler on an old , small oil cooler style XB?

Is it a one to one swap?
Do you have to reroute/change oil lines?
Did it make a difference?

Thanks,

Jon

I believe the mounting is the same, the guy I know that has done it had to use an adapter to get the lines to work

You will need adpters for the older bikes. But remember about the oil pressure it's not to good on some model bikes, a larger oil cooler on an older bike will take longer to curculate through the system you would be helping as long as you are riding on the highway.A lot of inner city driving just get a [small] computer fan also they are low voltage and toggle it off or on when in traffic.Make sure to wire it for power on by the key switch. They also make a small add on fan With Thermostat for this type of add on. J&p cycles/Jegs/and other aftermarket are a option as well.;)

could always just buy newer lines, I'll ask him if all he did was buy that adapter but that's all I remember him saying about it

Newer Engines have a different points cover and newer oil pump. I'm not sure if the newer lines would fit the older engines. I researched all this a few months ago and I couldn't get an answer to this without buying all the damn parts myself to compare so I gave up lol.
