I started this project today and heres the beginning of it. Ill posting pics as well as the final project. I have blinkers in the license plate frame, but I thought this would a nice addition. I saw some pics on this forum of a similar mod, I just couldn't find it again.

Edit: Pic placement

Ram- I didn't see that exact thread but it looks like the same bike I saw pics of. I personally didn't like the spacing of only three lights, so I went for closer spacing and a couple more lights. You could probably fit 6-leds in that area but then the back of the bracket starts to get in the way. It gets thick on either end of the leds you see in my pics. I used a hand drill w/ a 7/32 steel drill bit. I spaced the LEDs 3/8" apart from eachother. I believe the bracket is cast iron. It was pretty easy to drill and could be done on a drill press, which sat next to me on the floor of my garage during this process. lol.
Here is a picture of the LED's I used.

The LEDs can be bought at Kragen or PepBoys for >$20. I opted for the single LEDs and to wire them together to run two single wires to the blinker lead. This way if one goes bad I can replace it easily. My thought with buying LED strips was that I couldn't replace just one LED.

The LED's also have small clips that can hold them in place in their housings, but then they stick out pretty far. I didn't use the clips, I used hot glue to hold the LEDs in place with only the tip of them protruding from the bracket. This also helps to make sure riders on the back and my cargo net don't catch the LEDs. The 7/32 drill bit only allows the tip to poke out as well.

Thunderstorm-yes this is for side blinkers, looks very clean and help visibility.

On one of the holes I wasn't aligned properly with the others so I corrected the drill bit and filled the small mistake with JB Weld and sanded it clean.

Sorry for the picture quality. Camera recently broke and iPhone is all I got right now.

ok so did you wire them all together like one pos wire, to the negative of another, and the positive of that one tho the negative of the other? Or all the positves to one main wire, and all the negatives to one main negative? I don't know much about wiring, especially a bunch of small bulbs.

04buell12, it sounds as though he wired them in parallel, not series like you are suggesting.

Each individual LED comes pre wired with it's own pos. And neg leads. I spliced every together so that only one pos and neg lead go Fom either side of the bike go to the blinker leads from my license plate. I don't know what type of wiring this would be considered ad it's a somewhat of a combo. Any thoughts? I ran the wires up the bracket toward the mounting points and tucked them in above the plastic underbody, into the battery compartment area on either side of the bike, this is where I spliced the wires together. If the individual LED wires are longer than you need than just cut them long enough to be spliced and tucked away.

This is def something I'm going to tackle. Post a vid or final project, nice write up![up]

My friend did this on his R6. It looked really good.

[up] I was thinking about doing something like this if I get an integrated taillight
