whats up guys? im going to look at an 08 anything i should pay attention to? im sellin my concours and pickin up this lil bike. im lookin to stretch my gas money a little further. ive rode these before ,in 2000, so i kinda know whar to expect. just wondering if there are any years to avoid. the prices are all the same around here. $1600 for a 2000 and $1800 for the 2008, so i figure ill get the newer one unless the older ones were better quality like the KLRs. looking forward to seeing 60+ mpgs. i hope thats accurate? my connie was lucky to get 40 and the way i rode it was more like 35 mpgs. its gonna take some adjustment dropping down to 34hp from 110...lol. i kept the bags off the connie, im gonnna try and scab em on the blast. hope to get some feedback before morning. later.
 
hmmm nothin. ok well thanks anyway. i see another posts hes getting an 03 for $800. they sure dont go that cheap around here. ive been looking for a year and cant find anything less then 1600. later.
 
Check for oil leaks. If idle issues, replace the rubber boot.

Some people get 50-60 mpg out of stock Blasts or have a bunch of money into them. Most that have modified them are getting 35-45mpg. I get about 35 city and 50 hwy.
 
i bought it. im third owner, second didnt know what mods were done. aftermsrket pipe vh and jet kit, dunno what jet. i dont see any leaks but there hints of black soot here and there. kinda odd, ive never seen that on a bike before. the gas cap doesnt seal real good. i smell gas alot and the cap rattles. not bad for power. nowhere near my yamaha sr500, but alot more then the stock blasts i set up in early 2000. im sure ill have more question. im dissapointed that it might only get 50 mpg or less. i was really counting on the 60 to 70 advertised. my concours got 35-40 but i just sold it an hour ago, oh well. goin for a ride. adios
 
Bone stock '02 Blast, 23,000miles, have a very best of 76.4mpg although I admit I worked hard to get that. 68-70 is fairly easy to get, if I run it hard (rarely) I get 60-62.
 
Id bet his auto correct changed it for him.

Be sure to check your carb boot, they tend to split and the motor runs lean.
