hey i'm trying to make my buell all black, but ican't find anything online! where would i find the black airbox, ferring, and the wheel protector and anything else? i'm completely lost any website would help. where do i find these things?!
thanks

www.americancportbike.com has loads of stuff.

Why not get CF its almost the same as new plastic's. Buellxb.com has the best prices around on CF that i've found.[cool]

yeah i know buellxb.com has great prices but i guess i'm having trouble navigating the site and finding an all black set. i can find the magnesium stripe set, but not the black or any other color

all black is no option, you need to buy the ones which can be painted.

for what i can see, buellxb.com only has the airbox-cover: here

so if i already have the plastics (mine are painted blue) and i wanted it black i should probably just get it painted for a few hundred? or should i get entirely new plastics?

You can paint them, i'm still trying to figure out what to do with mine. Might paint, might go CF. Dunno yet, but painting is possible.

hold on, the original plastics can not be painted...well they can, but it will peal off after time.
you need paintable ones...most are made out of fiberglass.

Not true, I OWN a paint store, you CAN paint plastic and it wont peel. Fiberglass is better, but it can be done to the plastics and it wont peel.

the original buell plastic???

they always told me it would peal cause it has a kind of natural grease feel to it and the paint would stick.

i'm talking about the xb12 kinda plastic, not the see-through xb9 stuff

Yes, prep is key. Must be sanded down to dull finish. Then they use a special adhesion promoter, made specifically for plastic. Then you can paint it as you would anything else!!

then, maybe a stupid question, why do they make special paintable covers [confused]

Why do you think?, $$$$$$ of course :D. Although the fiberglass is more rigid than the stock plastics. Also fiberglass can be repaired should you say, drop your bike. Once the plastics are cracked, you're screwed[down]

Speaking of all black - I need to paint some fiberglass gloss black to match the black fly screen. I'm searching for a suitable paint code. Got a recommendation? There's at least 13 different shades of black![confused]

the whole key to painting stock plastics if to look at the type of plastic it is made from and use the proper prep for painting.

the stock plastics have the release agent built into the plastic and use a special primer to get the paint to stick.

this is the same for a rubber bumper on a car.

painted my buell 2 years ago and no peeling not even under the bolts after taking them on and off a few times.
