Looking for the right jet size

Hi guys , some of you guys have some real hands on smarts . My 2000 blast came to me with big exhaust and open air cleaner . I set float bowl and idle mix . main jet is 180 and mid jet is 42 . It has no roll on power and the plug is black . Does some one have a suggestion for jet size . I'm at about 3000 ft elevation . Has any body tried putting the accelerater pump on the carb .

mid/primary jet should be 45 to 48 - you are too lean - if your plug is Black then you have one of the weaker exhausts, especially if your intake is good, probably a Vance & Hines, kerker, or Pro-series - make main jetting for those is 175.
