loud pop under airbox?

2005 firebolt XB12R

it has always had a pop sound under the air-box but today for some reason it was acting like a little hoe.

it was sputtering pop and jerking but it seemed to sort itself out after warming up. as far as aftermarket i only have a jardine exhaust. what is causing this and would a air-box mod fix it?

I've seen bikes with a little filter on the side is that different from a air-box mod? I've been loo kin all over this website for clear instructions but i feel like i still don't grasp the concept :/

Breather Reroute - Great thread w/how to & discussions. It just reroutes the blowby gases from your crankcase to outside your bike, instead of into your intake. Sounds like you need new plugs as well - NGK Iridiums (DCPR9EIX)

possibly a tps reset! seems to make my little hoe shut up.. I also have the irodium plugs and breather reroute done.. Very good mods to do!!

Do those things ^^^ and run some fuel injector cleaner through it. Mine did the same thing and still does every once in a while. Lucas works the best IMHO

My bike had a similar issue. The plugs(DCPR9EIX) and the race map pretty much cleared it up. I did them at the same time though so can't differentiate between the two. Also did a breather reroute it helped a little not much though. I noticed I get a lot of stuff in the catch can if I overfill the oil a little. If the oil is just right, nothing in the catch can.
