Your '03 9s is actually a '03 XB9SL

Yellow if for the Low and CG models

No you cant just swap the spring you need to do the shock too. The shock length is different. Using a longer spring will only stiffen your ride and reduce rear suspension travel.

Also you will want to raise the front of the bike as well, changing only the rear will most likely have adverse affects on your handling.

So if I have 9SL and my buddy has a standard '05 xb12R he want's to low. Will the front tubes be interchancable. Both the triple trees have 54 mm holes. The rear shock shouldn't be a broplem.

But the triple trees allways has 54 mm holes so the inner tube of the fork shouldn't matter, right?
Is there any differnce in the wheel hub or front axle?

I think the lower clamp points were larger after the 41 to 43mm switch. I would double check it because I don't remember for sure. Hub axle and every thing elce like that is the same including rake and trail. Be sure get the parts and fluid to swap brake lines too. New crush washers and banjo bolts are recomended when you R&R lines.

Hey, can anyone tell me what the handling is like once lowered? How many inches does it give you, and is it really worth the risk of stuffing up the over all performance of bike?
Cheers
