Mechanical Engineering Design Idea

Hey ya'll. I ride a xb12s but this is pertaining to really just motorcycles in general or any idea for that nature.

I am going to be entering my senior year come this August and I am in need of project ideas. I have an idea I am working with my current employer but I do not know if I will be able to obtain funding for it.

I'm just looking for some ideas of things you guys think would be a good idea to design and develop from a mechanical engineer standpoint. It can really be anything as I am responsible for research, design, manufacturing and test of said idea.

The idea must be one that is not available on the market so it is basically undeveloped. So, any ideas?

2 piece rear pulley to allow changing gear ratios, and a corresponding tensioner. Just something I thought up right now, would require a wide range of your engineering skills, materials selection, heat treating, cad/cam....

All I did for my senior project, was build a hybrid boat....

That is a pretty darn good idea. I am going to look into that. I know we have access to a machine shop but do not know the capabilities of our machines. I would like to think an off the shelf pulley could be modified to allow it to fit on a hub that is attached to the wheel. This is interesting!
