yeah, and if you start messing with engine internals you better know EXACTLY what youre doing. Same goes with turbocharging and supercharging, you gotta really do your homework. You cant just bolt on some kind of "power adder" and expect that engine to hold up to the additional stress for long. The guys that are doing that kind of thing are pretty much re-building the engine from the ground up, using pistons, rods, crankshafts and transmissions that are purpose built to deal with the higher output. Big money, my friend and a lot of research on what works and what doesn't work.
