Besides the typical ways to get more power out of your engine (airfilter, ECM, exhaust), are there any other ways to improve performance? Thanks.

Displacement. Larger pistons/cylinders will get you some extra hp/torque. A good pipe should net you a minimum of a 10% gain in power over what it was stock. Most of mine have been upwards of 14-16% over stock though, so it depends on the design really.

yeah, and if you start messing with engine internals you better know EXACTLY what youre doing. Same goes with turbocharging and supercharging, you gotta really do your homework. You cant just bolt on some kind of "power adder" and expect that engine to hold up to the additional stress for long. The guys that are doing that kind of thing are pretty much re-building the engine from the ground up, using pistons, rods, crankshafts and transmissions that are purpose built to deal with the higher output. Big money, my friend and a lot of research on what works and what doesn't work.

Should headers be replaced as well? I was thinking either the Drummer SS slip on or the full kit from Micron.

Prime I have a 08 lightning with a Drummer SS,open airbox with a KN filter, EBR ecm that works well for me.Bottom and mid range are a lot stronger. I can drop it to 1500rpm in 5th and roll on the throttle and it pulls away clean without a hicup.Top end seems stonger to, but being old fat and slow i don,t see that part to often.

That's basically exactly what I wanted to do to my 2009 XB12R. I also wanted to reroute the crankcase breather. From what I read it is a cheap and good mod. I am not looking for top end, low end power and acceleration is what I am into.

I forgot it also has the breather mod along with NGK plugs and Taylor plug wires. The breather mod is great even on stock bike, hot oily fumes coming out right beside the air intake sensor just doen,t make sense, even if they were at the other end of the airbox would make the bike run better
