I just picked up a nice used 04' XB12S and am looking to upgrade a few things. I'm interested in any advice on the following:

- Seat (Corbin, Buell Select, etc.)
- Handlebars (looking for something similar to stock height, just looking to ditch the chrome)
- Mirrors (better view, less shake)
- Steering damper

Any other suggested mods? Thanks all.

My wife has the select seat on her CityX and while it is firm it is very comfortable. Never sat on a Corbin though. For mirrors most go with bar ends. They don't vibrate at all and your not staring at your shoulders. +1 on the CityX bars if you like the stock height.

Yeah, I'd heard those companies made some bars that fit Buells, but I can't seem to find any Buell-specific bars on their sites. Guess I'll have to call em'. I've had ProTapers on my motox bikes and always liked em'. Anywhere you can buy the stock XB9 CityX bars online?

I think the Corbin seat looks comfy, but it's about 2X the price of the Select Seat, so I'm hoping some more folks chime in on that topic to help me decide.

Thanks for the responses.

There's CityX bars on ebay right now. On the ProTapers I know the Carmicheal(sp?) is a popular choice for those want a bit lower bar. With other bends you have to make sure the first bend starts rising soon enough or they will hit the top of the forks. Like strmvt said americansportbike carrieswhat you need, they also have Renthal bars that have no fitment issues.

- seat: corbin is more comfy, is it worth the money for your needs is a Q only you can answer.
- handlebars: several topics already on here about that with tons of examples. try searching 'handlebars'
- mirrors: personally i would go for bar-ends. look nice, view is great and solid as a rock.
- steering damper: why? try adjusting your suspension to you and see if you still need one...

I just put CRG Hindsight Lans Split Bar End mirrors on and can see clearly for the first time. They are amazing compared to stock.

Take your stock bars to a shop that does chrome plating. They can strip the chrome and then you can paint them.My XB12Ss is my first Buell and I don't like the chrome either. Bar end mirrors are great, have used them on my BMWs for years.Until you get used to them they sort of get in the way when moving the bike.

I'm thinking about going with the Driven Racing 7/8" CR High Bend bars. Will I need a new triple clamp for these? I wouldn't think so.

Decided to hold off on the seat for now. The stocker's still in good condition, so it can wait.

The CRG bar-end mirrors look like the way to go. Must say, they're pretty pricey though.
