I am still trying to resolve my muffler issues with my 2007 XB9, Im looking for a cheap solution for the next 6 months until I make major changes to the bike,.
So my stock muffler is in a lot worse shape than i thought after i removed it. It looked okay but off the bike it has a big hole in the top,, almost looks like a big piece broke out from vibration,,,,or rust, but i dont think rust , I could Patch over it easily i guess, also some small holes by the DPO (Dreaded Previous Owner) near the front clamp location, So I Could gut this thing, make up my own rear plate with 2 exhaust tips and make my own internal mesh (I actually have some material that would work and add some packing, basically my own Drummer or hawk, looking at the pictures of these,,it is very doable,
But in the interim, I was looking at some alternatives,, could even make my own from scratch,, or a car exhaust muffler like the Latus muffler (I live close by Latus HD and plan to ask them if i can get any info)

But in shopping on Feebay i rolled the dice on 2 mufflers I thought i might be able to modify and make work, Both were cheap,, (one $46 , the other $99) and they are STAINLESS!!!! Woo hoo:D
,, And im a sucker for shiny alloy stuff.. Plus Stainless is easier to weld and fab with to me,,,,When its used exhaust stuff, I have experience in Aerospace and some great welders locally with TIG who I used to work with and can do whatever I need... Ill mod it, have them TIG it for me,

But I would REALLY APPRECIATE any input on these 2 mufflers and feedback, maybe im wasting my time with them and if so, id sure like to know NOW,, not afterwards.

So first one has some numbers on it,, It IS Stainless,, S 0090 C also has 78/1015-0369 also stamped on it. Its a known Buell muffler, the pictures can be seen on Feebay, Auction # 390547342226.

the second one is also Stainless, but has a 2.5 inch inlet (mine bike is 2 inch) and has
part # S 00110.G Feebay auction # 140916958115 It says Buell compliant epa blah blah blah, certified 80db for highway use, I have it here already, the other is in transit. this one is freakishly heavy,,, I wasnt expecting it to be so heavy,. Im wondering what all is inside it.

I can cut them open, make it servicable with screws to open them up or service,, change the openings and inlet,, modify the mounts, gut the insides,, add baffles and packing,, whatever,,, I like working with stainless..

I tried surfing this forum and others to get info, I tried the part numbers in web searchs,,, with inconclusive results.
if you type the numbers in it will bring up the auctions in searches as well,.. but im not getting any real info on them, the S0110 part comes up in searchs for S2, X1s and XB series but with different nomenclatures at the end of the numbers, none of them are stainless and none look like these...

Any help appreciated,

I do realize that if i try to use these ill have to fab brackets for the chin spoiler as well as come up with mounting to my XB9,,

Well I think the both of those mufflers are for tubers!

You can mount them, just might take some extra fabrication.

Depends on what you call wasting time. You're definitely going to be modifing/fabricating different brackets to make it fit. How far are you willing to go with it, ie; what's your time worth? $10/hour or $75/hour? My going rate is about $70-75/hour to build stuff, one off fabrication can eat into a bank account in a hurry. Development work is even more expensive.

I was looking more for information on what they were for,, Such as, gutting them and repacking will yield a great muffler, or dont bother, It is very difficult to rebuild those into something useful, or,,, those are very cool and years back were the hot ticket, and heres an old article on how its done, or,, finally, Those were an oddball that never worked right no matter what you do.
As far as fab, and my time, Im aware of those issues. Im a licensed FAA aerospace mechanic, Ive worked as a Millwright, and ran my own shop restoring and building Classic cars, Hot rods, and especially Motorcycles, I specialize in Classic British bikes mostly, Triumph BSA, Norton, Stock restorations as well as customs.
I am here to tell you, I have flat rate charts for the old bikes and basically double them,, if it says 2.5 hours, double it. Nothing fits right, and I tell people it will always cost you more than you think and take a lot longer.
With that in mind,, these Buell "modern" bikes to me are pretty straight forward. Im not looking to reinvent the wheel on this bike in current form, and willing to invest 2.5 hours labor and some materials to make one of these mufflers work,,, I bet I can rebuild the stock one in that time, But one of these stainless ones might be a better investment in time? thats what im trying to determine.

The issue is still that you're looking at tuber (pre-XB) exhausts for your XB series bike.

I'll give you an sTT muffler if you pay for shipping... It's in perfect condition, less than 500 miles when pulled off? Just tryin to help out...

Hey bimmerfreak09, if he doesnt need your muffler. I might be able to work something out with u. I want a hawk or a drummer and the muffler on my bike now is a no name. Have no idea what kind it is. Not trying to thread jack.
