Guys, I need some input from the mechanical and/or X1 experts

I’m looking at buying an X1 – all the ad says is “The bikes alternator rotor has sheared a piece of the crankshaft off”

I’ve spoken to someone that can import the parts to my part of the world and he’s given me a quote to fix – but what else could have gone wrong in the process of the shaft breaking? I’m worried that I buy it and find one problem after the next and it just turns into a money pit. And buying and importing parts from the States is really expensive (double the cost of the part to get it to me). Or is this a simple problem and a simple fix with no other associated damage?

I'd walk away from that bike an find another one,a used set of good flywheels will run $400 plus.
Rotor/Stator along with the primary chain and the tensioner at the very minimum are toast .
Then you have to tear down the motor including splitting the cases, so its re ring time and a valve job while your at it plus every gasket and seal and will need to be replaced.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it… I’ve been looking for an old Buell for a long time (X1, S1 or M2), they’re just so rare in my part. Anyway, I don’t know enough about bikes (or have the equipment) to be able to do that kind of work myself so I would have to pay someone else, so it would end up being a really expensive exercise. I’ll just have to keep my eyes open and wait a little longer

Thanks again,
BD

May be salvage yard, online, still will prob-ally have shipping cost. All Parts and bearings tools will be expensive, Could check to see if a Harley engine will cross-reference, Gives way more options at the junk yard. Then Combine the engines with new timing chain, they like to stretch, piston rings etc. The cheap parts that wear, its best to replace if you can.
