Ok so heres the set up. As many of you more frequent member know, I have been a member here for the last year while i have been in Afghanistan. Almost bought one bike and a lot of you were planning to pitch for shipping. Again a Thank You to all of you for the support. So anyway i promised my wife I'd keep the bike fund under 6000 dollars to include gear bike shipping etc. Well i have been trying to make this happen for 1125. Its been close but doable. Until now. A member of the badweb forum posted his bike for sale with a laundry list of goodies at a unbelievably low price. The price for the bike alone still 6500. Plus 400 ish shipping and gear I'm overshooting by close to 2000 dollars. But come on look at this deal!! (See link below) What do you guys think i should do? How can i swing this and make this happen?

well since you've put your life on the line imho you've more then earned the right to purchase what you want, as for the wife being pissed off you may want to get her something...

not the one time gift idea, something along the lines of a long term gift, something as simple (and some say goofy) as a 'coupon' for massages, or bubble baths at her leisure..
it could be very easy for you knowing what she likes and appreciates.

As they say..'a happy wife is a happy life'
good luck,
with a little creative thought I am sure you'll get what you want & deserve
;)

You didn't mention, did you see what she thought about the deal? My wife & I live on a budget, but like you I happen on a deal from time to time that can seem too good to pass up and we work it out.

If she gives in, then take Buddha's advice - get her something. Mine loves a spa/massage package.

If she doesn't, it isn't worth the added strain. There's always bikes/gear rotating around and depreciating in value.

Just my .02 cents. Thank you for your service.

Both of these are true. I did just buy her the new Iphone 4s on a whim. I'm also trying to convince myself i guess lol Shipping from IL is roughly 400 if i can get this guy to put the stock headlight and tail section on, so its streetable and my wife has a seat and get away with 6500 including shipping then I'm sold!

When I was last bike shopping the wife said I could only spend 5,500 TOPS!
If it was 5,501 she would have said no way!! HAHA
( but seriously! )

Suspension is nice, but being a tracker for a season? Probably been dogged on pretty hard. Just my. 02 cents.

If you and your wife, or just you, or just her are skeptical about limits on what's being spent, shouldn't you ensure you're spending your money on something in better shape that wasn't used for racing?

I would defenitly be interested in a bike like that but that would be my track bike since it already has a history of being a tracker.

And, just me, would only be interested with the ohlins

If you like cr's I know kevyn xb12ss I think is his bad web user name high miles but he just wants to sell it.
Sweet bike.
Another thing look at uship.com likely get it shipped for half of a freight company

Yes kevyns is still for sale. However he's in the process of putting it back to stock. Since its been sitting he didn't want the aftermatket parts to sit and go to waste. I know the exhaust is gone. And a few other things. White wheels are also gone and now back on stock wheels.

He had the valves checked recently, And its sitting @24000 miles.

And I think he wants 4500, last time I talked to him. But don't quote me on that.

Yea, but Kevyns CR was ridden the way it was meant to be and well taken care of. I believe he also has new fork seals on it. The white wheels made that bike in my opinion.

Crew if you're having to ask, you probably should stick to the budget! There will be plenty of oportunity for other bikes!

Or you can just blow the budget and ride the piss out of it! :D

Glad I could help!

After i wrecked on my first bike my wife said never again. So every so often i would just show her pictures of bikes for sale. It took about three months and she said i was bugging the shit out of her and let me buy my xb. :D

tell her whats going on.....but agree to sell some of the extra stuff to make up the difference.

Wow. Internet Crapped out here for a bit and i Really didn't expect to see this many comments lol. It turns out my wife pays more attention to the shit i say than i thought. All i did was sent her the link and she pointed out all the things i would eventually do to a bike i bought Fairings, chain drive, blacked out, race ecm etc. And she said she was for it with only one condition. I cant ride it until after its pulled into the house and "christened" so speech lol. I think i can live with these terms.

At least a girl will be on the back of my bike Ryan. I'm not sure Buells look that good with two dudes riding 2 up.

Lol
