I bought a 2006 XB12R a few weeks ago and haven't been able to ride at all, I couldn't figure out why the seat on my bike was lose. Got home removed the seat and noticed the (I'm not good with part terms here so I'll improvise) the part the screw screws into that holds the seat is missing on one side. So where do I get one whats it called and how the hell could it have come out? Thanks everyone also what color spring should an XB12R have on it?

Are the threads completely gone from the subframe?

I rode my Firebolt when it had the stock tail with seat pins and nothing holding them from popping up so I didn't need tools to remove it.

Sounds like the rivnut is missing.

You could...

1. find a place that sells rivnuts and instalation tools to redo it.

or

2. drill through the bottom of the subframe and install a stud/bolt from the bottom so the threads stick out the top. put a nut on the stud so it cant fall back out and drill a hole in the stud for a safety pin. you then just slide the seat over said stud and use the safty pin to hold the seat on.

As for the side with treads still in it.......you just get a bolt that fits the treads and cut it off to make a threaded stud and install a safty pin in it also.

Now you have a quick release set up for you seat that requires no tools.......just dont loose the pins...lol.
