I'll post more close ups after I clean it up. Bikes dirty right now from working on it.

Looks really good Netty! I really like what you did with the front pulley cover and of course the smoked timing cover looks better with all the new mods. Congrats on getting it "finished for now".

Thanks gentlemen! Project definitely took longer than planned. It's like opening a can of worms when you get that far into a bike. You just keep noticing things that need changing, replaced, updated, etc. You really have to just get to a point where you cut yourself off so you get the damn thing done. And couple that with the unexpected set backs, which I had plenty, that can be really frustrating.

But it's all worth it in the end! [up]

I encourage others who have been thinking about making changes, but have hesitated to just do it. Map out what you want to do, create a plan, and try to stick to that plan, lol.

looks great. how do you like the 1250 kit and head Work? I hope to do the same to my Lightning this winter.

I like what you have done here. Nicely executed. I too am interested in your engine mods.

Heres why, Recently i bought another Buell, a 2003 XB9R, and the owner had upgraded it with a hotrodded XB12 motor and had the Axtell big bore kit, Ported NRHS heads, FI manifold, and all kinds of other work, special springs, keepers, pushrods and Redshift cams. plus K & N filter and remapped ignition, Did not get a lot of miles on it, when it started making some sort of noise, he thought it was a bent valve, and took apart the top end.
Life took a detour for him (long story) and he offered it up to me,.. Im putting the XB9 motor back in it (was included) and some tasteful mods and eventually selling that bike, im keeping the XB12 motor, Micron exhaust, wiring, ECM and other bits for a custom hybrid cafe racer project (Norton + Buell)

So, since the valves arent bent, and the noise is undetermined, might be nothing or a rubbing cam or lifter or something else minor, Im going thru the whole motor. So what I would like from you is your feedback about yours, what you think of it, pluses, negatives and what would you do different if you did it over again. For example im thinking of taking out the redshift cams and going stock XB12 cams to make it more streetable,

Have you had yours on the dyno??? I have dyno printouts for mine but not sure i believe them,.

Once again, your bike looks great, you should be rightfully proud, and im sure many people would appreciate hearing about your build and what its like to ride, maintain and benefit from your experience. Also,,, which brand of gaskets did you use on your build? Stock Buell? James? Cometic? or ones provided in a kit?

Looks great man but think how much better it would look with our axle sliders powder coated to match! :p Just playin'! Good work man! [up]

Better get those pics ready for the 2014 calandar if we do it again!. Right now I see your beautiful bike every day above my toolbox and looking at the current setup...Wow bud. [up]
