A few months ago John422 bought a bike from a forum member that had a very nice set of crash pegs made at his local machine shop. The first time I seen them I knew there wasn't another pair anywhere and I knew they were a great idea and could help many buell owners to come.. John and I talked about it tonight and I wanna see what everyone thinks about the design and how many would be interested in them.. Here is a couple pics.. They mount to the factory motor mount location on each side of the bike.

The end caps are removable for the peg itself to be mounted and is reinstalled and held in place with a set screw. The end caps will be hard plastic like most frame sliders. The colors are up in the air at the moment. Could have options such as powder coating in many different colors, and also anodized in many different colors. Also just raw aluminum. End caps may be able to get different colors as well. Not sure on that yet.. Cost is up in the air as well.. I haven't made them yet so im not sure how much time they will take or how much cost the material will be.. Just trying to get some insight from the 1125 owners. Thanks Everyone

Looks good! Good call on changing the sliders to plastic. That will work better to absorb impact.[up] Looks like the end piece there was from a set of axle sliders...

Looks good. Id be interested in a set. Im confused with the purpose of this thread though? Are you considering production? If not I would like to get some more info to make a set myself. [up]

We are just seeing if people want them. And how many people. And if people have color preferences. Or should we keep it the stock matte black powder coat.

Noobuel.. good find.. i didnt think anyone else made these... i dont really like the design of either of these.. The price is good and i do like the price of the t rex axle sliders... hm... maybe a no go then.. maybe just a set for myself and a few others

I love the idea and even the t-rex ones but I want to talk to people who had to use them first hand. These only seem good in a drop, not anything at a decent speed. Seems like youll only **** up your engine mounting point more then anything if you crash at 30mph or more.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for having crash protection and saving yourself the hassle of fixing ****. But isn't the side pod of an 1125 designed to be crashed? Don't they just unbolt and pop off?

No, def not. There is a HUGE chance of bending and cracking your radiators in a crash or even a drop. The plastics are just that, plastics.

Does this design actually protrude far enough to keep the radiator pod of the deck in a tip-over with the steering at full lock? It looks like it definitely protrudes far enough to destroy my legs if I were ever involved in a rear-end collision and thrown forward.

When my father crashed my CR at medium speed he tore up the pod cover pretty good but the radiator was not harmed at all. In my opinion, to harm the radiator itself you'd need to crash so violently that fixing your radiator would be the least of your problems...

My highside on the track bent my rad enough to cause a small crack and leak but the wishbone mount was still fine and not bent. You can mess up your rad with a simple drop trust me.

I agree with a rear end. I just dont see how these will be effective against anything thats more then your bike falling over...

I'm not sure how they will work at high speeds.. I'm not gonna be the guy to test them.. this one has marks on it that looks as if it has been over..
