Hello Everyone! :D

So the story goes like this... I own a few bikes right now and my wife started showing interest in riding so I signed her up for the MSF course, which she is taking in a few weeks. About a month ago, I start searching for a cheap used bike that she can ride, and the Blast kept popping up as a great bike to get. I find an '06 on Craigslist and go take a look at it. It was pretty filthy, but overall seemed to be in pretty good shape. I take it for a quick test ride (like 2 minutes around the block quick) and Johnny Law catches up with me right away. Of course I am in no way legal as I don't have any eye protection, license plate, insurance and whatever. This is completely out of character for me as I am normally rockin' full gear. I explain my story and he lets me off with a stern "Get back to the house and don't let me catch you again!"...

Whew! off the hook...

So I pay the guy that owns the bike and we load it up on my trailer and I haul it home to surprise my wife. She is pretty stoked so I get started on tearing this thing down and cleaning and getting a general feel for the bike and any maintenance that needs to be done. I do this with any used bike I purchase, since you never know what the last guy did... First thing I notice is the rear wheel bearing on one side is gone, their is a nail in the basically brand new rear tire, and a screw holding on the sprocket is not only missing, but broke off in the wheel. SOB! I hit up eBay and the local shops for parts and end up hitting the jackpot on eBay on a complete rear wheel. It has good bearings, newer tire and everything else in excellent shape for about $150.

Then after lurking around on here, I decide to replace the exhaust and change the jets and the needle on the carb. I got a Vance & Hines, went through CV Performance for jets (48/175) and the CVP N65 needle instead of shimming it. Along with that, I got a K&N filter, checked out das boot for crackage, changed the brake pads (they were toast), changed the bars to Superbike ones, and got a new set of grips. Darned forums always get you spending more money!

Now that she is all back together and I got to take it for a real ride, I am utterly infatuated with this little thing. I mean it is a vibrating, carbed, loud, (definitely not the fastest one I own) small bike... but it is one of a kind, and is so lightweight you can throw it any which way you want and it looks damn sharp doing it! Plus the exhaust note is just downright mean! I haven't told my wife the problem yet, but I sure am glad she decided to want to ride her own bike and I was able to purchase this one. Now I will have to show some restraint when she actually gets her endorsement. Right now I just tell her I am testing it out to make sure nothing breaks down on her.... Lol! [up]

Here she is uncensored and uncut! I need to get some new pics with everything back together still...

jhc82 You, from your posts, seem to be a guy who knows how to work on a bike. In my experience, you will be very happy with this little ride. Once you get 'em going the Blast is very reliable (I have 28,500 on mine)It is not a race winner-but it will take you where you want to go all day at 70-75 mph, and handles like a sports car.
