Hi all,
I am looking for a new exhaust for my XB12S (as the title says). So far, I like the sound of the Voodoo Black Majic the best. Two questions for everyone:
1) I've heard a few sound clips of the Voodoo and it sounds smoother than stock. I want something less like a Harley. Will this be a good option? Can you recommend anything else?
2) I know it is a race exhaust. For those of you with a Voodoo or similar exhaust, any (legal) problems using it on the street or passing inspections? Should this be a concern?
Thanks in advance.
Ken

Legal problems with a voodoo would be the same risk with any other pipe. They are all considered "race only" pipes.

My voodoo is loud, very loud. It sounds like a harley(in a really good way) A good tune will make it sound better. Poping on decel can be eliminated with a good tune.

I purchased a Hawk Performance.

Price can NOT be beat.

Randy did a single outlet for me.

Nicest guy I've ever met. Couldn't wait for it to get shipped back so I drove to get it. Randy's shop is so clean you can eat off the floor. He's extremely helpful if you have any questions about these bikes.

As good as the pipe sounds and performs, I can't imagine spending $450 for anything else.

I have a VOODOO with the internal loop and dual outlet. this pipe sounds great to be ad I get endless compliments... Down side, it did get me a ticket the state officer asked me (after he "anal probed" my pipe with a slim jim)"wheres your baffles" so I plainly responded "whats a baffle?".;)

One other thing is my version of the voodoo his hard from 1500 RPM - 2900RPM and then again from 3900RPM - 6000RPM but between 3000 and 4000 it has a very annoying flat spot... [sad]

That's the first time I've heard of the Hawk pipe...anyone else use them? Have any opinions? Dyno results etc??

I decided to call Hawk Performance...

Couldn't agree more!! I can't believe his pipes aren't on more Buells?!?!? Super nice and accommodating!! He refuses to take payment until the pipe is on your bike and YOU are smiling!! Check him out!!!! Thanks wfochris!!!

I think he's done about 400 of them.

I was a bit skeptical because the price was so much lower, but after talking to him, seeing his own bike, and his shop, all that was gone.

I couldn't be happier with my pipe!

wfochris: Any pics you could share with us??? Pics are always nice to give you a better feel for doing something like this...

From my discussion with Randy (Hawk), he is very willing to customize and do whatever you are thinking about. He'll turn it around in a day (less shipping of course)!!! If he has a donor pipe, he'll send that one out to you prior to you sending yours to him = no down time!![up][up][up]

I bought a "special ops" pipe and I'm extreemly happy! Great sound, no flat spots, lighter, shorter, and I like the dual outlets, all though he will make you a single. I paid $250 + shipping, removed my stock pipe, shipped it, he modified it, shipped it back, installed it, been smiling ever since! No reprograming, nothing, bolt on and go...

Please note - the square you see on top of the muffler that's been welded on was done by the previous owner who tried to mod it, with no positive result.

The single tip was my request; Randy normally does dual outlet.

I can't imagine it sounding any better, and I've owned probably 6 bikes in all states of exhaust :)

And clearly the best one since it's the one I went for!

I don't make wrong choices. It's a medical fact.
