Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum and to Buell. Fairly new to motorcycles all together. Been riding about 6 months and fell in love with it. Just bought an '08 1125R and I love it! I'm gonna install a fender eliminator and would like to do something to give the exhaust a deeper tone without spending a fortune. Anybody have any suggestions?
 
Drummer is an AMAZING exhaust for those bikes!! Sounds and the performance gains was one of the best recorded. Just pricey ...
 
Fantastic bike. It's an event every time you get on it.

The jardine is probably your least expensive option. When you twist the grip, lesser bikes, Priuses and small chidren tumble away. Really sounds good.

The stubby Buell pipes seem to reflect off the road and up into your helmet. Or, something. Thought about earplugs a time or 2.
 
Welcome to the forum and Buell family! Check out the D&D pipe too. Loud as crap and they claim you don't need to re-map with the slip-on. If you can wait a bit save the extra $ for the Drummer. They cost more but put out an excellent product.
 
Thanks for all input. I've listened tp some soundclips on youtube. I agree that D&D and drummer do both sound really good. Was hoping to modify factory can to get me by for a while until I can afford a good aftermarket one. Anybody ever done that to an 1125 or have any suggestions? It's just a factory '08 right now but will take some pics to post as soon as I give it a good shine
 
Welcome! Steer clear of the D&D unless you like a tinney screamer, the Saron, TorqueHammer, and Drummer are best bets for sound, but all are in the Grand range. Or you can do like I have and "Tankenstien" the factory anchor...fairly pleased w/ results. can give some pointers...
 
Tank: Please do give some pointers on modifying the factory exhaust. That's the route I would really like to go for now to save some cash.

As for reworking the factory pipe...its a long story. Cut off the rear section, remove the third chamber, rerout inlet to second chamber to outlet to fourth (directly above) open up the twin outlets and redirect them away from rear caliper. Look at this pic to see what end result looks like.Sound is deeper and louder, but far from obnoxious. would recommend either deep pockets for welding shop, or some sheetmetal experience and a welder, though.

Thanks for the info Tank. The exhaust you built sounds great. Was there much difference in the sound when you reworked the factory pipe?
 
Yes, volume went up a little, but the tone was much deeper. I am thinking about offering that mod to folks for a fraction of the cost of an aftermarket pipe, but am still unsure of feasibility.
