Step1: Use Someone else's bike; A department Bike; or other bike you won't be financially responsible for making repairs on.. to practice. lol
A great deal of it is clutch control, practice and above all confidence (in yourself and the bike) I bought one of those ride like a pro videos (by the Motorcycle cop)last year when I first got my bike. There's bloopers at the end so you see that even those guys and ladies make mistakes.
I try to get to a lot if I can to set up a few cones in slalom and that 15 ft box from the basic rider course. I never set the cones even remotely that^ close, but I would imagine you can probably start inching them closer and closer to increase the difficulty and sharpen your skill.
