new rider- xb9r plug under dash

hi new to bikes ingeneral. got a 2007 firebolt xb9r and it came from an auction due to insurance fraud. i have found issues so i have a plug under dash on left side. is this a code plug or does it need to go somewhere. grey 4 pin plug with 4 wires blk,grey,grn, and red.Also the previose owner put a new battery in and said he drove the bike 8 miles and it dies. does the bike have an alternator? I have to replace sub frame as well as some other cosmetic,lo beam etc. just trying to get back bike to good condition so i can enjoy it. thanks for any information. Also what is the purpose of nthe voltage regulator?
 
It is a plug for the ECM, or like you thought a code plug.

It allows you to tune the bike with the proper software
 
Yeah that's the "code plug" you can buy an ECM spy cable 50 bucks and do tps resets/ tune your bike etc right off your laptop.Good luck with the bike! And if
