i need tires with very good grip for summer riding in cali with some damp conditions on mountain roads any suggestions?

I bought the Shinko 005's. I think I paid $170 for both the front and rear, and I am seriously impressed with their grip around roundabouts and under heavy braking. They obviously aren't the best tires available, but you can't get a better bang for your buck as far as I'm concerned.

My next tire will be....

Michelin Power Pure

Good tire prices here.

Check out petes-superbikes.com! Bought a set of Pilot Powers 2CT for under $300 CAD shipped to my door.

alfatango..let me know how you like those...i came this close { } to getting those. read good things about them.

I've ran them on my Ducati 916 before I sold it and loved them. A lot of grip in the dry, I never really rode in the rain though.

I've got Dunlop qualifiers on the XB now and think they are OK but I know the Metzlers and Michelins are real good. I've heard decent things about Shinko too. I guess a Japanese company bought Yokohama's motorcycle tire business and builds them in China. Suppose to be a good tire and the price is right.
