New to all this

I am new to all of this. I am looking for my first bike to be a buell. I love the streetfighter looks of the lighting with the v-twin sound!!!! My problem is figuring out what bike is best. I am 6'5 with a 36" inseam but only weigh about 150lbs. Is a 9 going to be too small, and if so should i go with a 12S or a 12Ss. And is a 12 too big for a beginner?

XB12SS, no quesition. You wont regret it. Not too big for a beginner.

yes older 9's will be absolutely too small for you ...i saw the 2008 model last weekend at the bike show and you could get away with it..but go with the 12 to be sure..same look..more power..taller seat height.

Yeah, I agree with hijinxxx, I own an 03' XB9R, and it is a bit tight for me and I'm only 5'10".

6"5 is pretty tall.....MINIMUM 31 seat height i'm thinking for comfort *shrugs shoulders*

Thanks for all the info. The 12ss seat height is 30.5 which is close to 31. I guess i just need to get my ass on one and see how it feels. It's going to be hard to find a good use 12ss.

Hi,
I'm 6'2 and the problem i had when sitting on the 'SS' was that my knees hit the side of the frame (where the frame bubbles out, where the pucks go). I didn't have this problem on the "s". Looking at pics of the "SS" compared to the "S" you see that the bumps curve in more on the "SS", leaving you with less leg room. I suggest you try to find one that you can sit on to try.

The 9 is an inch taller than the 12. I was suprised to read that ! My 9 is a 2003 ..and DEFINATELY too short for you. But the 2006/07 Buell is DEFINATELY too big for me. Go figure Best advice..go out and sit on em

i am also a little new to the buell scene. what i need to know is--am i going to see any noticeable difference in performance in the 9sx vs. the 12s. really torn between the 2 bikes. wish i could just have them both.

There is not much difference in performance fromthe 9 to the 12. Only about 10hp or so.

thanks for the reply dan. i finally got my cityx today- well i paid for it anyhow. i won't actually take possesion of it until wednesday or thursday as it had to come from another dealer here in texas. now if anybody knows where i can get my hands on a race ecm please let me know. i have an 07.

Yes there is a million places to get the race ecm. Don't pay more than $210 for it though.
