Morning everyone,

Well, as the title says I'm new to both bikes and Buells. I've looked around at many sports bikes and couldn't really find anything that I liked, but on one glorious morning I saw this bike setting in a parking lot. As I got closer, I saw it was a Buell XB12. These bikes are simply bada**!!! I had to have one.

The question that I have for everyone is do you think the XB12's have to much power for a first bike. Should I just pick up the XB9?

I'm in love guys. Any input would be awesome. Thanks.

Take a beginner riders course first but no as long as you don't give in to ego or try to show off you should be fine with the 1202.

join the club man. ive been in and out of the dealership for 4 days straight trying to get a buell i want delivered in from outta state. seems almost like they arent in a big hurry to sell these things. i just sold my other bike yesterday morning and i am already impatient cause i hate driving my car or truck. :(

Went to a local HD dealer today and they had a used 03 XB9S. It had 12K miles on it. The only flaws that I could see is that the rear tire will need to be changed in the near future and it had been dropped, but it really wasn't that noticeable. They want 5K for it. Is this too much?

I would keep looking, and if it's the one you really want well get them to put a new tire on the bike.

finding a used one around here is rough times, so i don't know man. i'll keep looking, but i'm going to call the sales guy to see if they'll replace that back tire.

Check on the for sale section here and on the badweatherbikers.com site, even if the bike isn't close to you you can get it shipped for a decent price.

i just bought a 04 xb12r like 3 months ago for 5k so i were id keep lookin took me a while to find this one but it was worth the wait.

Yeah, I'll keep looking around. Even if I have to have it shipped or go and get it, I think I can find a better deal.

You know what, I have followed Buell for many years, not getting a bike !!!!,(My Wife)!!!! I just Recently I got a Scg, the sales rep was not really selling the bike to me ??????, I knew fare more than him about Buell and their bikes, well,,, I am an engineer and I guess a sales rep has no clue, but I was waiting to get the Scg when some (all) the problems had been addressed, I don’t expect a problem free bike (If so I would got a Japanese bike) I love the V –twin and the mechanics. Normally I deal with gas turbines 34 000 hp or 25 MW, large diesels 15 000 hp and more so I am kind of a nerd when it comes to engines. If I had the funds, Suzuki GSX 750, Hayabusa, Ducati 1098, Buell XB12 Scg I ahve this one, Yamaha R6 and BMW Z 4M coupe, my wfe want me to trde the bike for this one( No way). would all be in my garage,,,This from a engineer….. Yes and a F22 R.,,,,

I had my buddy drive me to iowa in march it was about 30 degreess out side. about 250miles away from chicago and i drove the bike back freezin my balls off. The best part my helmet ripped apart then, i put on my sunglasses lost those ,drove like 60 miles with just a bandana around my face lol. hope you have better luck then i did buyin a buell.

well to answer you subjective question, take the buell riders safety course. buy you a brand new xb12. if you get used one you might not like how they treat you on the service side. and its your bike [smirk] you know? so have fun.

be easy

You know I'm kinda leaning towards buying a new one. Having a warranty is always a good thing, plus the guy at the HD dealership told me he would throw in the riders course for free. I think it normally runs close to $350.
