Hi there,

I am considering the purchase of the 2008 XB12R Firebolt in Canada.
I have never riden a Buell, but love V-twins.
I used to ride SV1000SZ and RSV1000R street racers.
I understand that the XBR is more about low rev torque, but I like that.

First question: how do you guys carry your lock?
I want to use a heavy duty chainlock or multilink lock.
Is there any storage whatsoever on a Buell to put your lock?

Also, do any of you have experience with alarm kits on your firebolt?
My SV1000SZ got stolen, and I never want to have that happen again.

What about pricing? In europe it is customary to get a discount if you have no trade in. Is it the same in North America?
I got a quote, but that was just full price. 12K canadian for bike+tax+transport.

Last question: how do you like the rides with passenger? Can you do a few hrs duo ride without much fatigue?

Thanks a lot,

Bram

no lock or alarm will prevent your bike from being stolen.
if they are pro's, they just cut the wire, lift the bike into a truck and off they go.

only option that will help a bit is finding a good lock and hang it on a pole or tree.

most people i know that have an alarm end up with troubles...

i never carry a lock, but the best carry method is a little backbag.

go to several dealers and look where you get the best price...go with that offer to the dealer you prefer and look what he does. if he doesn't offer the same, go for the other. europe isn't that customary to give discount on the bike, but they will offer it on gear that you purchase.

riding with passengers with an 'r' depends on several things...height, weight of passenger, etc, but most of all, personal prefference.
some can't do it, others have no problems...

you know every ? you asked is really all about what you like. first you cant compare the 08 1125 to the xb12r not the same at all, but if you like the sv or [what was my fav. till i saw the 1125] rc51 you might just throw rocks at 'em two after you have afternoon on the 1125.

about the price on the bike work that out for yourself. but if you are worried about your junk gettin scoped up and you want to put a lock on it or a alarm on it you need to save that money on that bike and find yourself a better hood to roll in. [smirk] not trying to be a jerk.

water is wet and the sky is always blue
