Its winter so not much riding and the XB12S doesnt stop (brake parts coming).

Anyways, I think I got a "good deal" on an XB12S that looks very nice and nothing really trashed and pretty clean.

The seller was in the middle of restoring it and ran out of cash and a garage.

He told me the following has been done:
The head seals go bad bc they dry out. I’ve had three and all variations in miles, it seems to be a time limit to the gaskets. They dry out, leaks oil everywhere. Only a few mechanics want to work on them. It was an expensive repair. I think I spent 1500 plus parts. It’s a cometic gasket so the new kit is OEM plus. The new head seals offered by hammer performance contain a lil copper to help hold them down and seal properly.
It also has many other new parts.
Tire easy but the belt. Those are hard to source and not getting cheaper. The tensioner for the belt will have to be serviced if it’s dried out. I’ve already done that and it’s new.

I know the brakes are bad (already fixed the rear). Waiting on the new seals for the front and master cylinder to come.

It needs the fan replaced (throwing codes on that)
Also throwing codes on exhaust servo (i disabled that)

The seller said "you might want to adjust the clutch"

I know it needs a new front tire (but has almost zero miles on the rear)

What else do i need to check on this thing to make sure it is "good to go"?

What someones says "clutch may need adjsuting" do I need to plan on new clutch plates?

Is the Free Spirit Clutch Aid or Mueller Power Clutch something I should do? (is one better than the other?)

Do I need to check stator or leave alone?

Eager to learn about these and get this thing running nice.

THOROUGHLY check and clean your grounds. Dont just lift the seat and say "Looks fine to me." like most people do. Literally follow the path from the negative terminal to the battery and clean every place two parts are bolted together, not just the obvious places. Just because its not obvious, doesn't mean its not important.

And the whole "run a ground wire to the coil" hack is just a band aid for a poorly grounded bike.

And check your wheel bearings, esp the rear.
