I just drained the oil from my primary and noticed the drain plug has a white (maybe acrylic?) ring around it that is crumbled apart. There is also a rubber o-ring that needs to be replaced. Do I need both kinds of o-rings for the primary? Or will just a rubber o-ring suffice? (I have the rubber, don't have the acrylic).

The white may be from some sort of thread locker that they used. I replaced both my o-rings when I changed the oil in both compartments. They use the same size, just make sure its secure on the drain plug and there's no play. Nothing special about the o-rings, just use your standard black ones and you'll be fine. Some loctite or something of the sort wouldn't hurt when putting the plug back in.

Sweet! I didn't see an O-ring on the engine oil drain plug... but it didn't leak out when I gave it the 10 mile test, either. I didn't use lock-tite, so I'll keep an eye on it. Doesn't take me long to rack up 3k! I'll do that next oil change! Thanks for the input!

Hi seajay!
Yep! Both drainplugs use the same O-ring. (11105 is the Harley#....I get mine there just out of convienence!). A little bit of the paste type teflon thread sealant on the threads doesn't hurt as radiation had mentioned!

so i log in, see new post with OIL in the topic title, click on same hoping that i'll be starting out my morning with a fresh tasty steamy cup of java and an oil discussion. but alas it's about drain plugs and o-rings. what a huge disappointment this is.

Sorry lunaticfringe... I posted the oil stuff earlier. And it was AWESOME! ;-)
