I've put about 500 miles on my bike in 10 days I have been riding and I find when I run errands around town that I either leave my jacket, gloves and helmet on my bike. Which bothers me because I don't trust anyone. Or I bring all my gear into the store w/ me and that kinda makes me feel like a douche and It is freaking bulky.

Any input?

If i leave my **** layin on my bike.. I always try to park it somewhere, where is in plain sight of security cameras.

they can walk off with it, but the police will be waiting for them at home ;)

I'm sure, I could deal w/ the po po if my **** got jacked. And my insurance would cover it if I didn't get it back (gotta love renters insurance) But I really don't want to deal w/ it...

you can run a small cable through the sleeves of your jacket and helmet locking it to your bike....cant do much about the gloves.

Good idea about the cable.

I just wear everything (except the helmet), don't leave anything behind. Don't trust people too much. I like being a douche.

I leave my helmet behind... rarely lock it. Maybe I am too trusting. To pilf a helmet and leave someone stranded (helmet law here) is so extremely super douchetatstic its rare I think. But I dont park in "bad" areas either. Location would make a difference fo sho.

I like being a douche as well I carry my helmet with the gloves in it and just wear my jacket it sucks but I'd rather be dressed for the crash and sacrifice wearing it in stores for a short period of time. The cable idea is the best if you can't wear your gear into the places you are going.

All military riders/ Non Squid guys

That's a little disrespectful, but I do appreciate everything that y'all have done to defend our country. I'm thankful that there are guys like you that can do the things that y'all have done, and go through the things that y'all have gone through. Seriously, thank you very much for serving. -Dogwood

How about you lock your helmet to your bike and put your gloves in it. If you feel like a douche in your jacket its probably because you are. Im military and a non squid (though i do play) i dont like the outlook you have on riders who wear their gear, granted it may be where you live but still. Work on your outlook on yourself more then caring what others think of you.

I second Loki!! Im a Solider, and I wear my helmet, jacket and gloves everywhere. Military Life insurance wont payout to my family if I dont. Also Ive already been in an accident on my S1, that had I not been wearing my helmet I would not be typing this. Plus who gives Crap what other people think about you, and what you are wearing. HELL we ride buells because we dont
care what others think, and we choose to stand out
HOOAH!

Maybe my terminology is incorrect? I thought a squid was a rider who did not wear appropriate safety equipment??? If I am way off please let me know. I meant no disrespect just trying to direct my question to the appropriate audience.

Dogwood, I really appreciate the kind words. Seems like most Americans have all but forgotten about the Soldiers sometimes.

Loki, I have no negative outlook on guys who wear full riding gear. I do. I just don't like hauling it with me every time I stop for something. Like I said I must have used the wrong terminology.

I was a little confused by the title vs content as well, no worries! Keep in mind those that have forgotten and dont appreciate your sacrifices, aren't the ones you're sacrificing for!

Much appreciated what you all do!

I'm with you though, bulky gear sucks when you're just running errands in and out of stores. I live in small town so I'm not fighting traffic and sometimes leave the jacket at home. Helmet, gloves, always wear.

There was recently a thread for that Kuryakyn helmet lock put in place of the chain guard which is perfect, but if I read that correctly, doesn't that only work for newer models?

Thanks again for your service!

I don't think Jake meant anything by it I didn't know what he meant at first but then when I read his explanation I understood if I wouldn't have I would have asked him!!! Everyone like's to jump to conclusion's lately! How bout we ask first?? Anyways yeah Jake I wear my **** where I go! It suck's but being Military and Police I trust NO ONE!!!!But I do like the Idea bout the the cable! I have three laying around with no use!!!! And since I don't give a crap bout rep point's I wouldn't care if he did mean something by it this Kid (No Offense Jake) just returned from a long deployment! That give's him right's in my book!

Plus who gives Crap what other people think about you,

Listen fellas I'm not trying to start a brawl. All I was suggesting is that I don't like to wear my gear once I am off my bike. I am all about the protection it offers when I ride, but I don't think I will be in need of it at the local auto parts store. While some of you may like to be noticed, I prefer to remain incognito.

I did just google "squid" It was exactly what I meant. Someone who doesn't wear the array of safety gear .

Thanks Mike. I spent a long time smelling Sh*t I can piss people off if I want! hahahaha.
So to the fellas who had some good input on the topic. Thank you!

the only thing I don't carry with me into a store is my back pack and that's just so i don't get accused of stealing stuff. jacket stays on or if I am groccery shopping and I am using a buggy I might stick all 3 in the buggy since walmart does not sell icon, A*, shift, or buell brand gear of any type I have no problems.

lol I was gunna be a smart ass an say I would chip in but I never served our country and I sometimes ride without my jacket.

But If its OK for me to talk in this thread, then I will say I usually leave my gear on my bike depending on where im at and how long I will be gone.
