What is a breakout box?[confused]

its a box that is used to test electrical circuits but its not needed just easier.

no you buy them they are pretty expensive.you dont really need one.i have them at work but never use them.

ah ok. the manual says to use one when testing the ECM. Thats why i asked

the way they work is a harness from the vechicle plugs into it then a harness from the box plugs into the vechicles component there are holes in the box that you you use to test the circuit.
