Hi - I'm looking to purchase my first Buell. A friend of mine has a blue 2008 XB9SX 25th anniversary edition with 5,300 miles and is asking $4000 firm.

It's never been down and is in great shape. The only cosmetic thing I noticed were some little scratches and a couple of the sticker letters that spell Buell are missing from the air box cover. The original stock tires are still on it and look good but I'm wondering if they should be replaced given their age. He is the original owner and has the service receipts for the maintenance work that was done by the local HD dealer too.

I heard these bikes typically sell for $2,500 - $3,500 so I'm not sure.

Thanks

A 2008 should sell for at least 3500. If he has all the paperwork that's a great deal at 4k.

I agree. Sounds like a great deal for sure!!! Just be warned if you haven't ridden a buell yet you'll be hooked once you do. Buells rule!!! Enjoy the bike if you get her. Don't forget to put up pics if you do. Safe riding in 2014

I'm not sure if it was ridden hard so I'm going to have a mechanic take a look at it.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

I'm sure he rode it like he stole it. after all it is a buell and it loves it that way.

Sounds good to me. I'd jump on it. The 9SX is a great bike. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one with that low mileage at that price.

buy it! look around and see what kind of bikes you can get for 4k with that mileage. basically none you'd want. I bought an 03 for 4k had 5800 miles on it. I couldn't be happier.

Great buy. I bought my 09 xb9 with 4k miles for 5200 with a few mods. Buddy of mine bought the same bike as mine for 4900 with 5k miles, boner stock

+ whatever the number is now....

Seems like a good price with low mileage.

If you like the bike, pull the trigger!

Buy it! Even if it was rode hard a buell can take a beaten longer than 5300 miles! [up]

It may be a good deal but it may not. It all depends on what area you live in. I live in Chicago and bikes in general have a higher price tag than if you buy them in another state like Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, etc.

The bike sounds like it is a good deal based up on my view on pricing and the quality of the bike (as you described it).

I was in the same position last spring and ended up pulling the trigger on my 2003 XB9r for $4200 with 5800 miles. The bike had the full buell racing package as well as upgraded front forks and rear suspension. So I think I got a pretty sweet deal. Also the bike has been a blast to ride. It is super flickable compared some of my other bikes and its look is super unique so I get looks and questions about it all time. Buells are not the fastest bikes around by any stretch but they make up for that with their agility, low end torque, and over all looks.

So if you are OK with those items and you live in a higher population area...BUY BUY BUY. If you live somewhere else you may be able to find a similar bike for a little cheaper but not much cheaper..

FYI.... removed/missing stickers is pretty common. Lots of people prefer that look.
Don't take anything on the plastics as a huge concern... Buell guys tend to swap and collect plastics around like trading cards. :D

Tires should probably be changed... look in the corners of the tread pattern... any cracks?
