Farm & fleet store has Mobil Super Synthetic Oil on sale for $3.19 a Qt.Is there different additives in Amsoil?

well if it is not Motorcycle it won't go in my Bike.
Since bikes have wet clutches and cars don't i only use motorcycle blended oil.
Likely not near as important in the xb vs my 1125 since the xb clutch is in the primary oil.
thats a great price for synthetic :)

What RT said. I love Mobile for most things fast but I wouldn't use something not specific for a vtwin.

yea... but 15 bucks average for a quart of amsoil.. but you only need one oil change a season, or 10k whichever hits first. So its not that bad.

Exactly what I was thinking. There are ways to get a reduced price through independent dealers so you're not paying list price.

im paying 11.13 to my door considering i was paying 10.80 for mobil1 its a deal at twice the price.

I tried Royal purple for the first time the other day, and after a ride to panama beach, my bike is noiser than ever, even my primary starts to clunk after getter her hot. I hear it loses viscosity pretty quick and I see this. Im goin back to mobile 1!

^^^ I do run motorcycle oil in my bikes just wasn't sure about XB's But think I will pick up few cases for work machines! Thanks guys![up]

I have about 2900 miles on the mobil 1 v-twin in my motor now, its been in there for 13 months.....

house, kid and 2 jobs is why the miles are so low :-(

Anyhow, i'm about to take a sample and send to blackstone labs to see if its still good or not.
I normally only go 12 months, but been busy :)

Truck has about the same (3100 miles in 13 months)
Going to have it sampled as well. (Mobil 1)

When the bike is rode its for a bit longer rides where the motor gets nice and hot (burning the moisture/fuel particulates out of the oil better)

the truck on the other hand is lots of short city trips. I'm curious to see the difference in results....

And before some one chimes in and says im an idiot for going a year on oil.... times have changed, oil has changed. I used to be a tech for a Mercedes, we changed oil at 15k or 1 year on 0/40 mobile 1.

But I'll see what the test results say!

rah7777777 please let us know how it turns out I say oil will be fine.I have had oil in work truck over 10,000 and still good oil gets dirty before it breaks down.

Wish I only drove my truck that much a year.

More information on this please! I would be quite interested in finding details on my oil. The change your miles at 3k miles I agree times have changed! Most people don't read manuals I guess? My 2011 car recommends oil changes at ever 10k I think?

FWIW the bit about wet clutches etc. doesn't really apply to the buell XB unless you plan to dump it in the primary. As long as the weight is correct the mobil synth. stuff should be fine. Also, I think most farm equipment these days is considerably higher tech than a buell motor :p

I'd strongly suggest not going 10k miles on an oil change no matter what oil you use, that's asking for trouble imo.

have fun :D
