I have a question about the power difference that some of you have achieved after you changed your fuel maps in the ECM. I just purchased an 09 XB12Ss with 3800 miles on it. It has a modded stock muffler and that is it as far as performance upgrades go. The issue is the bike DOES NOT want to wheelie. In first gear between 3 and 4 grand you can back off the throttle and go WOT and the front wheel will only come up MAYBE 12 inches?! If I clutch dump it in second about the same RPM by about 1000 to 1500 PRM flair the front MAY come up 12 inches. The bike seems to run good other than this. Also I own a 00 Buell X1 with a force race header, Race ECM and a K&N filter. This bike in first gear will flip over backwards if you back off and go WOT at 3500 RPM and hold it. In second gear with a 1000 to 1500 RPM clutch dump at 3500 RPM it will bring the tire up high enough that I can ride it out until it hits the rev limiter at about 80 MPH. So does a different pipe and/or a fuel MAP adjustment on the ECM make this much difference? Also the rear shock is a little stiff for my weight and I am going to back it down a little and see if it makes any difference. Another odd thing is my 00 is WAY rich to the point my swingarm is black from the exhaust so I know it is not making the power that it could with a fuel MAP adjustment. I have not race the two bikes against each other YET, I will with a friends help in the near future, but the 09 running through the gear feels like it pulls a little bit better than then the 00?! Also the 09 is WAY smoother and has more torque below 3000 RPM than the 00 does. I really like the upgrades that were made to the 09 over the 00 but the wheelie issue is concerning although I THINK this can be corrected. What do you guys think?
