Opinions in this Buell

I'm still looking around, and this just showed up on a local CL. I'm 5'6", so the lower seat heigt sounds good. Any ideas? Check out the tank dent.

3500 seems kinda spendy for that bike. 2800 to 3000 would be more in line I think but I sure others will chime in as well.

Just a frame puck would cover that dent. bit might have issues getting one to stick on with the material caved in.

If frame pucks will cover the dent your good there. Sounds like an okay buy to me assuming you look her over good. And of course the title is clean.

I just bought the same bike (2003 XB9SL) with 7.5K for $2,300. It also came with a helmet, jacket, gloves, chopped fender, shorter turn signals, and repair manuel. Just for reference, hope this helps.

In my opinion, it's not worth anywhere near that much. Keep in mind a replacement frame is $1300+ from the dealer (Not saying you would replace it, just that that's what it'd cost - plus install). In Ohio, that's going to be a totaled bike / Salvage title. My guess is they didn't run it through insurance or report the accident, and that's why they are asking so much. With that kind of damage, it's not worth more than $2k.

It boggles my mind all these people saying the prices are too high on Buells. How many of these said people were Buellers before the closure/fire sale? I remember when Buells had some re-sale value and sold for good money before the "after closure" Buellers came along and now they seem to be just cheap rides. I'm sick of this "give it away" mentality for Buells.

Did you look at the bike? I am all about a high value on our bikes. Hell, I just paid over $7500 for one. The point is, this bike has extensive damage to the frame - which is about a $1500 repair alone. Not to mention any other damage the bike might have on the swing arm or forks that you can't see in the pictures.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, and my opinion is that that is a sub $2k bike due to the massive dent in the frame. If that bike hadn't been wrecked, it'd be well worth $3500, likely more.

I know people are entitled to their opinion that's why i spoke. Ask ayone that was a Bueller before the closure and they'll tell you the mentality changed towards Buells as cheap bikes. Seems anytime someone post one up for sale people say the price is too high. That's my opinion.

This. Just because it's a buell doesn't mean too not look at the obvious things. It has frame damage. Regardless of whether or not it effects the ability to ride it, it's damaged. Hes asking pristine pricing for a non pristine bike.

I paid $3500 earlier this year for my 03 with 10k miles. Has full carbon fiber, k&n, new tires, and Jardine exhaust. I would try to go under $3000 with that damage.

+1. Looks like a nice bike, and SL's are getting harder to find. Frame puck or bondo/paint and you'll be good to go. I would try to offer less, though.

I agree with Walls on this. Those of you who have read my soap box posts about devaluing our bikes know how I feel about it. Walls wasn't saying this bike wasn't worth the values stated above, he actually made a generality about what happens every time someone posts a "is it worth it" thread.

Its a pretty common theme here that when someone sells a bike and doesn't get what they perceive the bike to be worth, They're shocked it didn't go for what they are asking and they get pissed about it. Understandably! But when someone else is selling, too many people are quick to jump on the sales price. Our own Buellers are driving the prices down.

Again, this is a broad brush, but it happens so often on here, we seem to be conditioning people to perceive our bikes to hold no worth or value. Frame damage, motor work, etc, that's all understandable to reduce sales prices. I just read Walls post as a generality, not necessarily pointing fingers at anyone specific. just my opinion.

And for those who remember, I declared one day last year as 'Add $1,000 to the value of your bike' day!

We do this each year for a couple years, we'll be in the black again! [up] Bottom line, these bikes are bad ass. Don't be afraid to ask for a price and hold it!

Mine has the same ding from P.O. Frame puck her and you are good to go. I paid 26 for mine though, had a lot of stuff wrong with it outside the drop issues. Ride it and you will know if it worth that to you. Mine was worth way more than I paid for it. I collect interest on grins everytime I ride mine.

I'd say 2500 - 3000, unless there is structural damage (like to the mounting points for the subframe or a leak) I would not say these bike go below 2k. even with the dent. most people put pucks on and the buyers never even know they are there. I give this guy props for being honest. I would ask for close up pictures of the damage, primary cover, swing, handlebars, and forks though.
