Please help with my ecmspy

Hello there. I have a 2005 xb9r. Ive did all the searches and haven't found an answer that works. It says my port is open but transmission timed out. Please help its really frustrating. Here is what Ive already tried.
:2 different computers 1 running Xp and 1 with windows 7
:Reinstalling drivers
:Took the plug apart to check connection from it to data link

Try opening ecmspy, then plug in your cable. Also make sure your key is on, and the the kill switch is in the run position.

Change usb ports if you have multiples, it worked for me.

Did you install the drivers included with the cable? The cable isn't plug 'n' play; you need to install the drivers. I'm sure there's a way to see if they're installed properly, but I'm unaware of it right now. Also, make sure your kill switch is set to the "RUN" position, and your key is turned to "ON". Then try to establish a connection via ECMSpy. Otherwise, the program cannot communicate with your bikes ECM, resulting in a transmission timeout.

I tried changing usb ports and still nothing. I think i narrowed it down to the cable because there is no continuity between the plug and usb.

Got new cable in today worked like a champ!
