Yeah I know it's a crazy idea and most are just like "you gotta be kidding me". It's different though and that's the meanin of Buell to me. 50 I polished my headers a while back and they turned out great. IMO I think It would look pretty cool if it could be pulled off. I'm in he market for a new exhaust and am trying to decide on a stock/hawk pipe or something else because my jardine came apart. If I do go the hawk way I'm gonna attemp the polish. If it doesn't turn out good then I could always pain it back. Thanks for the good thought on the clear onelogue. It might not be for everyone, but hey it's worth a shot. Just really looking for some ways to get it down to the bare steel to prep for polish and some type of protective coating. Without it looking like crap.

That's gonna be tough to do and pull off the polished look. It may be more of a brushed metal look then you'd have to find a high temp clear coat. You might want to consider a jet-hot coat or something similar for that look?

That's the issue.  Stainless will polish.  Mild steel I don't think so...

Yeah I can see what you mean. Still gonna go forward with it if I go the hawk pipe route. Even a brushed metal look would look cool.

Why don't you save some pain and try it on a piece of scrap mild steel, or something like that. See how it goes first...
