Hello everyone.

I have a new Jardine can on my 08' XB12. Love it but I found it to pop and crackle alot, not backfire but just noisy on decelerating. I was told to run the 08' for a while and the ECM will settle things down over time. Is this normal?

Jardines are prone to popping. Exhaust leaks make it worse. Seal the joint between your headers and can and it will improve.

Sounds like a good old fashion childhood breakfast to me, rice krispies treats, snap crackle pop :D

No but on a serious note, I have a factory Buell Race muffler & Race ECM, and it does the same exact thing. Was hoping someone could answer this same question in another post.

For one reason or another, It seems that most if not all aftermarket mufflers pop on deaccelleration.

Just something you will love to hate.

I made my own "QMI" quiet insert for my Jardine/XB12Ss as well as sealing the header to elbow joint with the OEM clamp (the Jardine clamp stinks) and some exhaust joint sealant from NAPA. The insert takes the "bite" off the bark and while it's still loud (and I do wear plugs under the helmet which makes it very tolerable - even pleasant), it still pops on hard decel, but it's not obnoxious.

I have the stock pipe and hardware from the previous owner, and even stripped it down to bare metal in preparation to repaint and install it, but the Jardine has quite grown on me.

I actually enjoy the sound of my muffler popping on decel, really lets people know I'm coming when I am lane splitting.
