possibly buying a xb12r..please help

I am interested in buying a buell xb12r for sale up in minnesota. so without riding it, it will be difficult..

so my question is, can someone give me some advice how to go about looking at the bike and what to check out.
the ad says it needs a gasket at primary inspection cover and possibly a clutch...i can do that. what else should i beware of?

i race motocross district 23 in MN, and this will be my 1st street bike...however, i am no stranger to motorcycles.

2004 Buell xb12r ,harley davidson screamin eagle race kit, black/ gold rims, 2 sets of seats , 2 shields , all factory parts on hand pics avail. Never been down, expier. Adult ridden, 18k mi. But the odometer skipped at st.paul HD when being serviced. Bike is in complete order other than needs a clutch cable or possible clutch. Needs gasket at primary inspection cover. Total fix cost approx 250 to 300

Easy fix if ur mechanically inclined. Get a manual and fix it urself. I bet the clutch is just a frayed cable and a adjustment. Not so sure what a "HD screaming eagle race kit" is but I assume it means it has the Buell race kit on it. Which would be a muffler, k&n air filter and a race ECM. Good luck

there was another bike fitting a similar Description with the HD screaming eagle . and so someone on here talked to Erik Buell about it and he said there was NO such thing ever made.

Harley Never Made ANY exhaust for Buell , BUELL made exhaust for BUELLs and some after market companies made some for buells.

this is just some guy or some dealer full of BS trying to squeeze some sucker out more money .
if you dont believe me then do yourself a favor and ask Erik Buell himself on his facebook page or call him at EBR.

Yea, I talked over the phone to the owner of the "screaming eagle" buell guy and something wasn't right with him. So I looked elsewhere. ;-)

I am proud to say, that I am a brand new owner of a Buell XB12R. I did not purchase this one we are talking about, I made a 10 hour drive from MN over to Lake Michigan to purchase my new bike for $3000. I am very happy and excited to get into this forum and these bikes.

I will try and do my own research before asking a bunch of questions on here. I did not get a manual with the purchase and 1st things 1st...I want one!

I would add a picture of my new bike, but I don't know how to on here. I tried, it is asking for a URL. ??? Do I need to add the photo to photobucket or something?

Congratulations on the bike! To start with, download yourself a manual from here... http://www.buellxb.com/specs.php and also check out buellmods.com in case there's anything else you need to download.

As for searching the forum, if you get stuck do a search on google instead, the forum search isn't the best. Just type "site:buellxb.com" as one of your search words and it'll give you links on the site. It's much easier that way.

For the picture you do need to have it uploaded online. Get the the web address for the picture, then when you post the message click on the "image" button and paste the picture's address in there and hit enter. It'll do the rest. If you need somewhere to load the pictures you can do them right on this site. Right above where it says "Welcome RyanPeter" at the top of the page is a link that says "My Pics". Click that and load your pictures in there. Then open whichever you want, right click on it and choose "View picture" and copy the address out of the address bar.

I'm a little curious as to what he had to say about his so called screaming eagle exhaust, and his bike for this matter .......

not to mention why or what is the deal with people/dealers saying thier buell has a screaming eagle this or that from harley,(other than them wanting to rip you off or they have already for those that believe that BS... WTF ,
as on SNL= REALLY , REALLY ! come on .

My bike!

It's 34 degrees and sunny up here in MN and it feels like its 60 compared to what its been! So tempted to ride my new bike, and/or my motoX bike...1 down, 4 up right? A guy forgets the basics after a winter of no riding. kidding.

LOL, Ryan my bike looked alot like yours only a few short weeks ago..... welcome to the forum. These guys are awesome here. Not much you cant find out if you just search or ask. Oh and by the way,,, it looks like you have a Buell race pipe and probably a Race Only ECM along with the K&N air filter.....

Wow Native, the dealer tried to tell me the same AND Erik talked to me about it. He told me that there was no such thing for a buell. So i kept my mouth shut & kinda caught them in the act. cause when I first got the Bike I peeked w/ecm spy I didn't change anything due to warranty & other problems w/ the bike. The map was horrible! EPA crap. I let them get the bike running as so to speak. BTW - This was Rossmeyer in Daytona that did this! Thank goodness for all the People that made Ecm Spy possible. I couldn't learn how to fast enough . You all Rock ! Love this Forum .[up]
