Power draw from headlight xb12 r

Anybody know why my regulators keep frying the connectors on my xb12 r 04? Thank you

Yers. a poor or corroded connection will do that.

It will also do that (and burn out headlights) if the voltage regulator is overcharging.

Put a voltmeter on the battery. should read OVER 12 volts.
Start and hold st 2500RPM, should read between 134.5 and 14.7 volts. any higher and you need a voltage regulator.

So I fried both the stator AND the regulator

So a partially melted connection(but good enough to charge) from the stator could have gotten worse being that it wasn’t solid as in factory condition?

Also would a farm bolt missing out of the four cause bad grounding?
