Just a quick pre-load question here....

Me and the girlfriend are taking my XB9R up to NC this upcoming weekend for a few days of riding. Right now the bike preload is still set at the factory settings which is for a 150-180 pound rider. I am about 165 with out any extra gear. She is only about 110 pounds wet. When we ride together, I really have no complaints with the way the bike feels. I don't feel like it has any problems at all with both of us on it in the turns around my home, Charleston SC.

But.... I know all the turns up there are going to be a lot more than what I have around here. We do not ride very aggressively at all when it is both of us on the bike but at times we do go a little over the posted speed limits and just carry a nice pace through the turns.

According to the book, I would need to crank down on the springs pretty hard for the weight. If I do this, I assume it will affect the compression and rebound as well. Right now we are both pretty use to the way the bike handles both of us but I am asking your opinions on if I should crank down on the pre-load considering where we will be at for the few days of riding. Only other thing is that I will not have a chance to ride it with the new set up until we are up in the mountains, so no test rides with new settings will be possible until we are in NC.

We will be on the Blue Ridge and also looking into running the The Dragon and riding in those areas too.

We will also have some of her camera gear and I am sure a few other things as well. Maybe about another 20 pounds of stuff all together at the most.

I would leave it as is and just take the tools to adjust it up there if you feel the need. If I'm adding weight to the back of my bike(luggage or girl), I just bump the rear pre-load up a notch and don't bother with the front.
