Who has the best trick to measuring the play. Its kinda a pain in the butt. the manual says between 1/2 and 3/8 when hot and to check different locations on the chain but getting a accurate measurement seems to be a little tricky. Anyone have a good method to do this.

i put the bike in 5th and rotate the wheel by hand. hard, yes, but doable.

a cool trick i just learned from another Bueller (damn, i forget his nic) is to find the tight spot during one of your checks/adjustments, then clean the chain really well in that spot and mark it with a Sharpie. the mark will last for the next few checks no sweat. makes readjustment super easy 'cause you know where the tight spot is.

i just readjusted my primary before a track day last week or so... i still use the method of finding the tight spot, then pushing up hard until the bottom of the chain is even with the inspection window. this method probably leaves it a little on the loose side, but its worked for 10K plus. YMMV
